Success at the London Schools Trampoline Championships

Teddington have had the most successful London Schools Trampoline Competition ever this weekend.  The Under 13 Girls Elite team (May Curtiss, Rebekah Lumb, Robin Wheeler, Jemima Witt) won their age group, becoming London Champions for the second year in succession and qualifying for the Southern Zonal Competition in January.  In addition, Rebekah came third in her category which allows her to compete as an individual at the next round in January.

The Under 13 Boys Novice team (Evan James, Daniel Robertshaw, Oscar Rudkin, Sam Woods) were all new to competitive trampolining.  After a shaky start in their set routines, all the boys performed well in their voluntary routine and achieved second place.  This was enough for the boys to qualify to the next round of the competition in January.  A fantastic achievement.  Oscar narrowly missed out on an individual qualifying spot, finishing in fourth place.

In the Under 15 Girls Novice competition, the girls just wanted to do better than last year where the highest finishing position was 17th.  The girls (Maddie Edwards, Immy King, Phoebe Wallman,) performed with maturity and experience and after the first round were in 3rd place in the team competition and both Phoebe and Maddie were in the top ten for individual performances.  For the voluntary routine, the girls put their nerves to one side and performed clean routines.  Phoebe finished in 3rd place in the individual competition which takes her through to the next round for the first time.  As a team they narrowly missed out on qualification by 2.2 points, but were ecstatic to finish in 3rd place overall.

Although Georgia Wood (Year 11) did not qualify for the next round of competitions, she performed exceptionally well in the Under 19 Girls Elite competition.  Having not been on a trampoline recently and only just moving up into this age group, Georgia completed two clean routines and scored well.  She faced tough opposition against some older competitors and some current British Champions, but can take a lot away from the experience.

It was a truly fantastic day and all the students did Teddington School very proud!
